This small, en-suite bathroom forms part of a new build, detached home owned by a property developer. Lisa, director of Lisa Melvin Designs was given a brief to create a useable master en-suite with limited space, which met new build regulations.
Lisa needed to design a bathroom that was not only functional, but had that all-important wow-factor to tempt potential buyers. She applied a neutral colour scheme throughout to appeal to a mass-market audience - this way, it would ensure the property was sold more easily. A section of mosaic tiles around the basin add interest to the overall design, yet remain within the neutral colour palette.
The fixtures and fittings, which have been supplied, are all designer-led, yet affordable quality, from a Geberit Kappa 20 flushplate to a Hansgrohe EcoSmart Croma shower. Using the space to its full potential, Lisa incorporated a wall-hung frame to support the Duravit Starck 3 compact WC. Not only does this physically enhance the space available, but also it provides an illusion of the room being larger as more floor space is visible. A wetroom with a reduced depth glass screen maximizes the showering space available and the compact basin refrains from imposing on the size of the room.
The en-suite has been designed to be easy to clean with wall-hung sanitaryware and a WC seat that can be removed.
Award: Best of Houzz 2015 Award
Date: January 2015
The people have spoken. Or in the case of the Best of Houzz awards, the people have clicked. Houzz recently counted how many times the more than 25 million monthly Houzz users clicked to add a photo to an ideabook in 2014. The professionals with the most popular of those photos — the most added to user ideabooks — earned a Best of Houzz 2015 badge that they can display on their profile pages. If you see a badge on a professional’s profile page that means one of his or her designs generated a lot of buzz in the Houzz community last year.
In addition to design badges, professionals earned badges for customer service, determined by a variety of factors, including the amount and quality of client reviews received in 2014.
